wire and Tube Southeast Asia 2015 - updated after-show special

The 11th international wire & cable trade fair for Southeast Asia and the 10th international tube and pipe trade fair for Southeast Asia, were officially closed on September 18th, after three days of business meetings, group visits and seminars.
The co-located exhibitions held at the Bangkok Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) were opened by Mr. Arthit Wuthikaro, Director-General of the Ministry of Industry. The shows presented an impressive line-up of machinery, innovative products and solutions from the synergistic sectors of wire, cable, tube and pipes. Over three days, 411 international companies from 33 countries, including 7 national pavilions and country groups from Austria, China, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, the UK and USA, came together in a single exhibition. Among them, there were several companies appearing on Expometals.net. Check out this link to read our trade show preview article.

At closing, wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2015 welcomed 7144 international trade visitors from 56 countries. Almost 33% of these visitors came from outside Thailand, from countries such as Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Myanmar and Pakistan as well as visiting delegations from China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. The trade fairs also received visits by 73 local factories. With the formation of the single-economy ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) at the end of the year headlining the region, coupled with the onset of Thailand’s Infrastructure Development Plan – which will see the Kingdom undergo a massive transformation to its overall national infrastructure from 2015 to 2022, robust and borderless trade opportunities will be evident for the wire and tube industries in the coming years.

We collected some comments of the exhibiting companies and associations to capture the perceptions regarding the trade show and the situation of the market in the area:

"This edition is better than the last and we have seen good numbers and quality visitors. We've also received a steady stream of enquiries."
Ferruccio Bellina - ACIMAF (Italian Wire Machinery Manufacturers Association)

“Trafco participated in wire Southeast Asia with the division Cortinovis Sictra. The organization of the event was based on the standards of Messe Düsseldorf, therefore it was excellent. Our goal was to contact again customers both in Southeast Asia and in Northeast; almost all of them visited us to discuss their investment projects.
The presence of Chinese suppliers is constantly growing, but I believe the market is aware that for strategic facilities it is better to address a few qualified Western operators such as our company.”
Andrea Camparada - Cortinovis Sictra, a division of Trafco srl

“The organisation was excellent, I had changes done to the booth the day before the opening and they were done swiftly and without fuss. I appreciated the cleanliness of the hall and that no unnecessary announcements were made during the show - only wait times for taxis were really too long! There were not as many visitors as I had hoped, with long periods of time with no persons in any of the booths around me. I had visitors from Malaysia, India, Oman, Taiwan and Japan but none from Thailand, Vietnam, Burma etc. As far as brand presence, our competitors were all at the show so for us it was important to be represented.”
Rogan Maclean - Clifford Welding Systems (Pty) Ltd

"The show that was recently held in Bangkok turned out to be quite a success for Gimax. Numerous visitors both from Thailand and surrounding areas showed an interest in the new range of drawing equipment that GIMAX now offers, as well as in its respooling and drum packing lines - a sector where GIMAX traditionally leads the market. Despite the slacking economy in certain areas, the quality of the visits was high and that has led to several concrete projects currently under discussion with wire manufacturing companies in the South East Asian market."
Gianluca Romagnolo - Gimax Srl

"The Southeast Asian market is a significant and growing one, and thus the trade fair presents a great opportunity for the industry to explore the region’s potential.”
Amanda Shehab - IWMA (International Wire Machinery Association)
