Three questions for Continuus Properzi

Three questions for Continuus Properzi

The WMD, Wire Machinery Division of Continuus-Properzi, was born in 1999 from a centenarian history.
Eng. Gabriele Muscarnera, from the technical-commercial department has been asked three questions, to better understand the company and to find out market outcomes and most promising  future perspectives of a business of this kind.

1. From the beginning to now how has the company evolved, both in structure and in market presence?
The adventure of Continuus-Properzi began in 1947 when Ilario Properzi invented and applied an innovative technology for the continuous casting and rolling of non-ferrous metals. This technology revolutionized the production of Al-Cu conductors. Since that time innovation, research and development were the "modus operandi" of the company, which has given it the possibility to stay ahead, registering also numerous patents. In 1999, Continuus-Properzi acquired Redaelli Tecna-Meccanica, machinery division of Redaelli which included brands Kraft Germany and OTT France, expanding the product range to complement the field of wire drawing and stranding of ferrous materials.
Since the very beginning WMD division's machines benefited from the decades-long experience in casting and rolling; this allows Continuus-Properzi to have production lines - in particular the revolutionary Megalogos, horizontal axis wire drawing machine, the Logos 2.0 Evolution with vertical axis, and the stranding line SK1120 - whose performance and efficiency are at the top of the category.

2. Your division WMD specializes in plants for drawing and treatment of wires and strands for prestressed concrete. How has the trend in the construction industry influenced your production in recent years?
The trend in the construction industry did not have great influence on the sales of our machinery; wires and strands for prestressed concrete produced with these machines are mainly used in the construction of highways, viaducts, bridges, dams, not of "commercial" buildings.

3. What is the best result that you got last year? And which are the foreign markets you focus on more?
Between the end of 2014 and beginning of 2015 we sold three large 9-blocks drawing machines with 1270 mm (50") capstan, and a stranding line for prestressed concrete in Thailand. Currently our main markets are the Far East, the Americas and the Middle East.
