Steel bars rapid heating furnaces for molding lines

Steel bars rapid heating furnaces for molding lines

This new line of furnaces, developed and patented by ICMI, uses - as energy source - natural gas to bring the bar to the molding temperature, and represents an important innovation in the market, able to meet the specific needs of hot forged steel, both from the qualitative point of view with the almost total absence of oxidation on the bars, both from the economic point of view ,with a considerable saving of energy cost per ton produced.

In particular, in a market like Italy, where the cost of electricity is among the largest of the whole Europe, this line of furnaces allows a very important saving on the cost of energy necessary to produce the forged pieces, compared to electromagnetic induction furnaces. As demonstration of the results obtained in terms of energy savings, the installation of this new line of furnaces allows to get the Energy Efficiency Certificates (TEE or white certificates), both in the case of new installation, or replacing the existing gas fired or induction furnaces. The product and the technical solutions are patented.

General description and main technical characteristics

a) Range of modular furnaces, designed in two sizes depending on the section of the bars - size 1: for 70 to 150 mm diameter and production from 1.000 to 5.000 kg / h - size 2: for 170 to 270 mm diameter and production from 3.000 to 12.000 kg / h

b) standardized systems, manufactured with a modular concept, able to easily adapt to the various requirements of potential customers, reduced time of installation and already prepared for future expansions in case of production growth.

c) minimum oxidation of the bar: the design of the furnace's internal chamber and the control of the combustion, mainly of the air-gas ratio, allows to minimize the amount of oxygen in contact with the material that normally generates oxidation.

d) significant savings on the cost of the energy required per ton produced, connected to the relationship between the cost of the GAS (CNG or LPG) and the cost of the electricity needed for induction heating

e) Improved uniformity of the temperature of the bar, both between the skin and the heart , both in the longitudinal direction as the material to be heated remains completely in the furnace during the heating time.
