Compacting heads for round or sector shaped conductors

Stolberger, a leader in the cable machinery industry, manufactures and markets, compacting heads for round or sector shaped, straights or pre-spiralled conductors in aluminium or copper.

Type VG: non-rotating unit for round or straight sector shaped conductors.
Type VD: rotating unit for pre-spiralled sector shaped conductors.

The compacting head is designed to accept 1, 2, 3 or 4 pairs of compacting rollers depending of the specific conductor construction. The compacting rollers are not driven. For pre-spiralled sector shaped conductors the compacting head is driven by an individual AC-drive. The required pre-spiralling lay length results from compacting head speed and haul-off speed of the line.

Main advantage of Stolberger compacting heads with rollers are that they do not limit the line speeds, compared with other systems. Stolberger is using a computerised system to design and determine the best profile for each pair of rollers to ensure the highest possible compacting rate.
