MA20: the largest grinding machine in the OMD range

OMD – Officina Meccanica Domaso S.p.A will present the new MA20 at the upcoming wire Düsseldorf 2024. The MA20 is the largest dry grinding machine in the company’s range and is suitable for springs with wire diameter up to 30 mm, maximum OD of 300 mm, and length up to 700 mm.

MA20 grinding machine: features and benefits

This automatic grinding machine features two opposed vertical spindles, is designed for simultaneous grinding of both spring ends and is available with either a single or double disc loader. The machine is equipped with: automatic positioning system, automatic compensation for grinding wheel wear, automatic dressing system, electronic regulation of the disc loader rotation speed, variation of the grinding wheel rotation speed, electronic regulation of the spindle feed speed while maintaining constant grinding pressure, and EXTRA special cooling system.

EXTRA cooling system for extra performance

The MA20 can dry grind springs with wire diameters up to 30 mm thanks to the high output power, the increased size of the grinding wheels and disc loaders, and other technical features, most notably the EXTRA cooling system. This significantly increases the amount of material removed and therefore the productivity, all while guaranteeing a high quality standard.

The EXTRA special cooling system implemented on the machine, which is more powerful than the special cooling system, allows for the optimization and distribution of the air flow conveyed by the turbines. It cools springs, spindle motors, abrasive surface, grinding chamber, and spring slide surface all simultaneously, thus increasing the grinding cycle time.

Real-time consumption monitoring for energy saving

The machine is also equipped with a system for monitoring and recording real-time consumption to fully control the power used during processing. The system management software can limit the consumption and extract the actual energy costs to be attributed to a specific production batch.

The goal is to offer a grinding machine with high production performance while guaranteeing customers high standards of technology, quality, and reliability over time.
