FUHR goes virtual: web meetings with augmented reality features

FUHR GmbH & Co. KG, the German leading manufacturer of wire rolling machines, has always been a future-oriented company. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic that is running rampant all over the world, the enterprise has chosen not to hide its head in the sand, but instead to look forward and try to turn the crisis into opportunities.

Before all the trouble due to the restrictions on international travels, interested customers used to visit FUHR’s plant in Germany. However, now that live demonstrations are practically impossible, the company has quickly remodeled its business procedures in a virtual and interactive manner. Clients can attend dedicated web meetings where they can see the corporate production lines up and running, ask questions, and speak their minds. Moreover, the hosts can show each and every part in detail and mark particular components on the customer’s camera through augmented reality. This new way of interacting with the audience has also allowed the company to organize bigger events aimed at larger groups of stakeholders. In particular, FUHR has invited its representatives all over the world to showcase the company’s latest commission in India. The feedback was great, and scheduling two meetings in different time zones permitted almost all of the company’s sales agencies to join the events. In fact, the viewer engagement was such that FUHR is planning more events like this in the near future: in the next one, for instance, the star will be the new “IPU” plant, specifically designed for the inline production of insulated rectangular copper wire.
