Rautomead Limited: a positive feedback from Interwire

Rautomead Limited: a positive feedback from Interwire

Rautomead Limited exhibited at Interwire 2019 (14-16 May 2019) and also presented a paper during the Global Continuous Casting Forum which ran in parallel to the trade show.

Guy Henderson, Sales Manager of the company, shared with us his impressions on the event.

"The paper, “Continuous Casting of Dilute Copper Alloys for Drawing to Wire in Specialist Applications” discussed the increasing industrial demand for copper-based conductor wires with high electrical conductivity and other specific physical properties, including high tensile strength, high softening temperatures, creep resistance, abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance, whilst also maintaining also good ductility. It went on to describe the techniques and equipment which have been developed by Rautomead for reliable, continuous production of these materials within narrow chemical tolerances.

The overall number of attendees to the Trade Show & visitors from Mexico & South America might have been lower than in the past, but the meetings we had with American companies were with delegations of senior management who have plans for expansion and investment in their manufacturing capability. The projects require technology for production of complex, higher margin, alloys which was the subject of the technical paper and the culmination of several years R&D effort at the Rautomead facility in the UK.

We thought that it was a busy show with a generally optimistic mood within the American Wire and cable manufacturing industry."
