GMS chosen to supply a new furnace for Metallurgica San Marco

Among the excellencies of the Italian manufacturing sector, a prominent place belongs to the historical company Metallurgica San Marco (MSM).

We could say that brass is in MSM's DNA. The company has been processing and customizing this raw material for three generations now, showing continuous growth—both in terms of volumes produced and consolidated turnover. Thanks to innovation and production versatility, the Italy-based firm is one of the most important European manufacturers of drawn and extruded brass products.

Their race on the track of success is certainly driven by a strong innovative spirit together with inimitable forward-thinking where the selection of the best supplier/partner has a decisive strategic value. Therefore, GMS (Global Metallurgical Solutions) is proud to have been selected by MSM as a supplier of tailor-made plants for brass melting and for semi-finished products manufacturing. The recent partnership includes the supply of an advanced 18t channel induction furnace for batch melting of complex brass alloys.
As far as solid scrap charges are concerned, the melting power is equal to 6t/h, and the maximum power is around 1.5MW. The furnace is powered by an energy-efficient IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) static converter, particularly suitable for high power applications, which allows maximum flexibility in all operating conditions (start-up/working/waiting). The system, which also includes the cooling system, will be supplied with a dedicated EPC. Moreover, the customer will be minimally involved in the critical installation and start-up phases.

The company is proud to say that the importance of this customer and the confirmation of trust in GMS with repeated orders must surely be interpreted as a vivid demonstration not only of GMS' technical capability but also and above all of its validity as an industrial partner.

…we make simple the metal complexity…
