Wire rod pay-off systems

WiTechs designs and manufactures wire rod pay-off systems that ensure smooth and efficient wire feeding at the start of the production line. In wire manufacturing, quality at the beginning pays off throughout the process. With precise and controlled wire handling, they help drawing, stranding, and coating lines run faster and more reliably.
Overhead pay-offs – ÜKA series
The ÜKA series includes several overhead pay-off models, each with specific wire diameter and speed capabilities.
Main features:
• Hydraulically tiltable pay-off cones with coil capacity up to 3 t
• Covers low-carbon wire diameters starting from 5.5 mm, with upper limits depending on model
• Wire pay-off speeds up to 10 m/s across the series
• Designed for continuous and stable unwinding in drawing and pre-treatment lines
• Optional Loop Accumulator Wagon for wire break protection
• Optional full tarpaulin enclosure for scale and dust containment
• Upper guiding roller movable via chain hoist; loop catcher available on most models
Horizontal pay-offs – HA-F, ASH, and GSA models
WiTechs horizontal pay-offs are designed to support continuous and reliable unwinding for a wide range of coil and spool configurations, covering low- and high-carbon wire depending on the model. The series includes solutions for single-coil, twin-coil, and spool applications, offering stable performance across various line layouts.
Main features:
• Suitable for handling heavy coils or spools depending on model
• Covers low- and high-carbon wire within the ranges defined for each configuration
• Wire speeds up to 5.0 m/s
• Optional loop detection or loop accumulator systems for increased line safety
• Available in single-coil and twin-coil configurations
• Includes non-driven and driven versions to suit different line layouts
• Supports efficient and stable unwinding for continuous production processes
• Fully automatic speed control is possible
Pay-off turntables – ADT and ADT-A models
WiTechs pay-off turntables are designed for reliable and controlled unwinding of wire rod coils, supporting a variety of drawing, coating, and pre-treatment setups. Available in passive (ADT) or driven (ADT-A) configurations, they offer a practical and versatile solution for many line layouts. Both models can also be supplied as dual turntables to accommodate two coils simultaneously.
Main features:
• Coil weight capacity up to 3 tons
• Wire diameter range from 3.0 mm to 20.0 mm for both low- and high-carbon wire
• Wire speed: up to 180 m/min
• Hydraulically tiltable design available as an option
• Optional dancer-based synchronization system
• Dual-coil configuration available for increased operational flexibility
• Suitable for seamless integration into new or existing production lines
Accessories
WiTechs offers several accessories to improve safety and process control across pay-off and drawing lines. The TZ-3 dancer unit synchronizes driven pay-offs and issues an emergency-stop when reaching its end position. The Tangleguard SF detects tangles or knots and sends an immediate stop signal while guiding the wire through its inlet basket. The AE-1 turn-off device uses a three-roll system that reacts to overloads or interruptions by triggering an emergency-stop command. These modules help maintain stable wire feeding and allow each line to be configured according to specific safety and automation needs.
Together, these systems offer a complete and flexible approach to wire rod handling, helping manufacturers improve process stability, safety, and overall line efficiency.
