ibaCapture-CAM

Measurement with a view

ibaCapture-CAM is a complete system, consisting of hardware and software components, for the synchronized recording of visual information and measured data in cooperation with ibaPDA-V6. The intention is to focus the video recording on process events of special interest rather than using the system for general surveillance like many other video systems do. The precise linking of measured data and visual information provides an unprecedented quality of process analysis because it enables the user to look at visible process events in the machinery and the corresponding historical measured data at the same time on one screen. The video recording can run continuously or event-triggered. Hence, process sequences of special interest can be recorded from beginning to end.

Capturing and storage

Visual data generated by analog or network cameras are acquired by the ibaCapture-CAM video server and stored on its harddisk in compressed files. In continuous recording mode the video files on the harddisk are cyclically overwritten in a ringbuffer manner. So called video triggers may be configured for event-triggered recording of special process events. At the same time triggered video recordings are stored in protected areas of the harddisk in order to prevent overwriting by the continuous recording. Thus, important process events or sequences can be kept available for further analyses.

The role of ibaPDA-V6

The control of both the continuous and the triggered recording is done by ibaPDA-V6. The ibaPDA system is constantly connected to the ibaCapture-CAM server via the network. During measurement and data recording the ibaCapture-CAM server continuously sends synchronisation signals to ibaPDA-V6 for each video channel. The synchronization signals are stored together with the video source information in the measured data file of ibaPDA-V6. In order to replay a video recording in ibaAnalyzer it is always required to have access to the corresponding ibaPDA data file.

The video recording of each camera module can be displayed on screen in a dockable window side by side to the standard signal monitors and charts. By moving the marker along the time axis in the signal charts the corresponding video follows accordingly.

■ up to 16 cameras in total (analog, network or mixed)

■ up to 4 frame grabber cards for 4 analog cameras each
