Paper and cardboard recycling: how to make the process even more sustainable?

The paper industry is a perfect example of a circular economy, in which many players from different sectors are involved, but in one way or another, each has the opportunity to make their contribution in terms of the sustainability of the supply chain.

One of these players is Bottaro, which, as a wire manufacturer, comes into play in a specific moment of the paper and cardboard supply chain: when recycling plants use their baling presses.

For them, the company has developed BWR™ - Bottaro Wire Recycling - the iron wire with unique mechanical properties, which is superior to other iron wires. Among these, a maximum resistance to breakage, greater malleability with the same tensile strength, and the possibility of use on any type of press.

The mechanical properties, combined with the even smoother wire surface (compared to previous products) allow for less friction during use – especially during the binding phase– leading to further reductions in recycling plant power consumption.

For companies with high consumption, Bottaro has created an evolution of this product, the BWR Black Plus™, which outperforms the standard BWR™in three aspects:

- its diameter is reduced by 10% compared to the standard BWR™;
- it allows achieving a higher metric development;
- it increases mechanical performance.
