From Bologna to Brazil: the spring maker ISB to open a new production site in South America

9000 km away, this is the distance separating Italy from Brazil. But this didn’t stop the Italy-based ISB from looking for new business opportunities on the other side of the world.

The company has recently opened a new production site in Nova Lima, located in the state of Minas Gerais, whose capital Belo Horizonte represents the second industrial pole of Brazil. The machinery is already ready, and the branch will be operational by the end of 2020.

"The project has been in incubation for several years", explains Francesco Silvestri, President of ISB. "The acquisition of some local companies was not successful, so we decided to start from scratch with our own production, targeting the entire South American local market.”

The factory will be dedicated to wire processing and production of compression springs
up to 4mm in diameter and tension and torsion springs up to 2.5mm. The outlet markets for this type of springs are manifold. "We will address all of them, not just the Automotive industry", continues Silvestri. "We want to bring to Brazil the expertise and technology that we have acquired in Italy and make sure our products can reach end users across the entire subcontinent.

The spring maker ISB was established in Bologna, Italy, in 1954 and has grown considerably over the years in size and expertise. The company provides its customers with much more than just springs, but first and foremost with know-how and reliability. Every single product, from the simple compression springs in round wire to blanked strips and wire assembled parts, is subjected to the strictest quality tests.
