A newborn in the REDIES family: MANT PCD®

REDIES, known Italian company in the production of tools for drawing, is pleased to present MANT PCD®, the new product in polycrystalline diamond.
The image shows the main features, articulated in the following list:

-1 MANT PCD is made from diamond micron powders with blocky grain structure in very narrow size tolerances.
Together with metallic catalysts it undergoes the high-temperature high-pressure sintering process. This results in an interlaced compound structure: The polycrystalline diamond (PCD).

2- Afterwards metallic portions are acid leached. The PCD now is thermostable up to temperatures near 1,000 °C. Thus reducing the risk of cracks at high drawing speeds and high deformation degrees.

3- The conically cut and polished PCD blanc is pressed into the tungsten carbide ring. The conical fitting surface of PCD and ring gives a better support against the axial drawing forces

4- Pressure sintering near 1,000 °C into the outer casing. The PCD body is completely sealed by Ni-base alloy. Resulting in symmetrical heat elimination during the drawing process.

5- Casing from stainless steel 100% crack tested.

6- Wire drawing die geometry made with laser, ultrasonic and conventional mechanical shaping and polishing methods.
