RoSET - Rosendahl Superior Extrusion Technology
Over the past few years, the global cable industry has seen the rise of thermoplastic polypropylene-based power cable insulation systems. These polypropylene-based compounds, also called PPC or HPTE (high performance thermoplastic elastomer materials), feature excellent electrical behavior and provide benefits to production processes.
XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) has been dominating for decades in land AC applications and (for around ten years) in HVDC (high voltage direct current) links.
Lately, polypropylene (PP) compounds have been proving to be an equal or better alternative to XLPE, with an annual increase in usage of roughly 5-6%.
For this reason, Rosendahl’s R&D department made significant investments in PPC testing using its RM-A line in real manufacturing conditions. The results were outstandingly positive: this led the company to bundle its gained know-how and offer it to power cable manufacturers around the globe under the name RoSET - Rosendahl Superior Extrusion Technology. This unique MV PPC cable-manufacturing system is engineered for power cables up to 30/36 kV: its main features are an MV line-type RM-A, PPC MV insulation, and semiconductive materials.
RoSET is now available for purchase!
