Interwire, the longest-running wire and cable marketplace in the Americas, was staged once again at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on May 9-11.
The Wire Association International (WAI), Inc. reports that it had a successful showing. This year the fair comprised three events: Interwire 2017; WAI’s 87th Annual Convention; and the first Global Ferrous Rod & Wire Symposium. 3,807 people participated.
The Interwire exposition gathered more than 400 exhibitors from 25 countries showcasing wire and cable products, machinery, ancillary equipment, and services. Sixty-five companies were first-time exhibitors. The exhibit floor was sold-out; The footprint of the show consumed 110,000 sq. ft.
Remarking on the event, WAI 2017 President David Hawker said, “Interwire was a success and it accomplished a number of our objectives. The level and stature of the attendees confirm that Interwire is a core event in our industry (…) and I look forward to Interwire 2019.”
Below, some comments and remarks of the exhibitors about their experience at Interwire 2017.
Marc Fitzner, Calmec Precision Limited:
“The show went better than we expected. We brought two machines, one patented dual strip armouring machine and a new vision system for armouring. We got the feeling the capital expenditures are going to rise in the next couple of years.”
Jay Luis, Beta Laser Mike (An NDC Technologies Brand):
“People were definitely in the buying mode. The equipment we displayed aroused a lot of interest. For example, our LaserSpeed® Pro now with Industry 4.0 connectivity, that can be used for connectivity, control, sharing.”
Tom Maxwell Jr, Die Quip:
“The quality of visitors was better than the quantity. The situation for the wire and cable industry in the US is improving. There's a kind of reshoring that started a while ago, but not all the manufacturing activities that left the US territory came back.”
Josef Lang, Lukas Anlagenbau:
“I must tell, I had higher expectations from the US market. I made some interesting contacts, but the numbers were not striking. But eventually it's the quality level that counts, and we will not be able to see the results immediately, but after some time.”
