The U.S. to set anti-dumping duties on steel pipes from Oman, UAE and Pakistan
On November 18 the United States International Trade Commission announced its determinations in its antidumping and countervailing duty investigations concerning imports of circular welded carbon-quality steel pipe from Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.
The commission agreed that producers of these countries undercut prices, harming the U.S. manufacturers. As a result of these determinations, the U.S. Commerce Department will issue antidumping duty orders on imports of these products from the three countries.
The commission rejected an anti-dumping duty on Vietnam, agreeing that volumes of dumped products subsidized by the government are negligible.
According to the American Association for Iron and Steel Technology, the case arose on a complaint filed last fall by four U.S. producers: Bull Moose Tube Co., EXLTUBE, Zekelman Industries Inc.; and Western Tube and Conduit.
Reuters reports that the United Arab Emirates could refer the United States to the World Trade Organisation over the anti-dumping charges levied on steel pipes.
