Market and trends 
According to a market survey carried out by Grand View Research published in September 2020, the global steel pipe and tube market size was valued at USD 142.4 billion in 2019 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.2% from 2020 to 2027. In terms of volume, seamless steel pipes & tubes accounted for a market share of over 54% in 2019. 
The oil and gas industry is the major consumer segment for steel pipes & tubes. The increasing oil and gas production due to the transportation industry’s demand is one of the growth drivers for the market. This segment led the market in 2019 and accounted for the highest revenue share of over 51%. The O&G industry will retain the leading position over the forecast years because of the diverse applications in this field, such as OCTGs, transportation, and process piping for refining crude oil into petroleum products.
In terms of volume, the chemicals and petrochemicals segment is expected to achieve a CAGR of 5.0% from 2020 to 2027. 
Rapid industrialization and urbanization, increasing population, and growth in the manufacturing sectors – especially in developing economies – are expected to further boost the construction industry segment’s growth. This, in turn, is likely to increase product demand. China, India, and the U.S. are the leading construction markets globally.
