Furnace for dynamic stability verification

Furnace for dynamic stability verification

Auxiliary plants

GF-ELTI, specialized in the design of industrial plants and furnaces, offers furnaces for dynamic stability verification, i.e. to measure the eccentricity of rotors or shafts during a hot test and ensure that it lies within the desired tolerances.

Typically, these systems consist of:
- furnace modules (multiple configurations are possible depending on the length of the rotor or shaft to be tested);
- horizontal spindle equipped with tail stock;
- rotating disks supporting the piece to be tested;
- tracer points for eccentricity measurements;
- electrical reheating system (resistors);
- electrical control equipment.

The dynamic stability test consists in reheating the piece up to the working temperature with a previously defined gradient.
The operating temperature is maintained from a minimum of a few hours to a maximum of a few days and the rotor is then cooled down (naturally or forcedly).
The piece, kept in rotation at a speed of 2÷4 rpm throughout the entire test, is subjected to measurements at regular intervals to detect radial deformations.
A position transducer measures the longitudinal elongation which, once stable, determines the heat uniformity of the piece and validates the beginning of the test temperature permanence time.

The data collected during the test are stored to produce an accurate report and to allow the operator to assess whether the eventual pieced deformations lie within the required tolerance.
