Stone impact simulator for springs and automotive components

Stone impact simulator for springs and automotive components

Grit Impact Simulator Machine (GISM)

The Grit Impact Simulator Machine developed by IABG allows to simulate stone impact damage to a wide range of components: suspension springs, sway bars, dampers, axle components, motor vehicle or rail vehicle fronts, heat exchanger car body parts, fuel tanks, transmission housings, oil pans, windscreens and axles.

Two simulators developed by IABG are also suitable for the simulation of hail fall on wind power rotor blade tips or solar panels.

The testing method is correspondent to the standards DIN 20567 and SAE J400. The maximum grain size of the discharge material that can be tested is 40 mm. The testing machine is able to simulate the impact of a large selection of material like gravel, chippings, stone shards, sand etc. regardless of shape, size, and weight.
