Reels for ropes and cables
GMP Slovakia produces many different reels and drums for any kind of application. For wire and cable there are two models of reels: SD-Structural Drum and CD-Corrugated Drum. The main difference between these models is the flange, SD-Structural Drum type has the internal of the flange completely flat, CD-Corrugated Drum has this surface corrugated. Both models are available in two different versions, one for cable and and rope process and the other for cable and rope’s transportation. The design of the reel is quite the same esthetically both for process and transport, but there are important differences in the construction and in the structure of the product. Reel for process need to be well structured to support stress during the working process, so flanges and barrel are manufacturing with special reinforcements, and are designed considering the type of the material loaded , the loading capacity, the speed of application and according to any special customer’s requirement. This version can be statically or dynamically balanced, can have hardened changeable bushings and can be supplied special lifting hooks or slots for fixing the wire. Reel for transport is lighter in weight, has no special internal reinforcements and can be supplied disassembled to reduce transport cost. This knock down condition is a very good solution for multi transport, when customer has to move the reel from their plant to final customer’s plant: material is winded on the reel, customer sends the reel with the material to their customer’s plant, their customer unwind the reel and send it back disassembled. In this way transport cost is reduced a lot. GMP Slovakia also supplied all the equipments suitable to handle these reels, both in vertical and horizontal position.
