DEM strengthens its presence in Australia with four high-performance cold rolling lines

Over the past year, DEM S.p.A. has shipped more than 20 cold rolling lines for reinforcing wire to customers around the world. Four of these advanced systems have recently been delivered and commissioned in Newcastle, New South Wales, as part of a brand-new mesh production facility.
The successful start-up of these lines in 2025 marks an important milestone for DEM, confirming its position as a trusted technology partner for reinforcing wire producers worldwide. Each line reflects the company’s commitment to efficiency, flexibility, and process digitalization, tailored to the specific needs of the Australian market.
Advanced rolling technology for modern mesh production
The installation includes:
- Two cold rolling lines for spooled wire, designed for 6-ton solid spools or 5-ton compact coils;
- Two integrated cold rolling lines feeding cross wires directly into a double stroke EVG GD6 high-performance mesh welding machine (supplied by EVG Austria);
- QCC – Quick Cassette Changeover system, enabling cassette replacement in under 4 minutes and full production changeover in less than 15 minutes;
- WWC – Wire Weight Control technology, ensuring consistent wire weight per length and consistent wire quality;
- Integrated DEM strapping machines, engineered for speed and reliability;
- Wire Up IIoT connectivity, allowing full digital monitoring, traceability, and data-driven process optimization.
A strategic milestone in the Australian reinforcing wire market
With this new project, DEM strengthens its role as a strategic supplier in the Australian reinforcing wire sector. The four new lines combine high performance, automation, and connectivity, paving the way for sustainable, data-driven production aligned with the industry’s latest standards.
“Each installation represents our dedication to bringing the most advanced cold rolling technology wherever our customers need it,” states DEM’s management. “Australia’s growing construction sector demands top-quality reinforcing wire, and DEM is proud to be part of that evolution.”
