GMP Reels rolls out massive new model for heavy-duty cable applications

GMP Reels continues to set new standards in reel manufacturing with an ambitious project designed for a European client. Currently under production at the Nashik facility in India, these reels stand out for their exceptional dimensions: 4100 mm in diameter and 7500 mm in width.

A global reference point in the design and production of reels, drums, and handling systems for the wire and cable industry, GMP Reels leverages advanced engineering and manufacturing know-how to deliver tailor-made, high-performance solutions worldwide.

Big needs? Big reels. Simple as that.

These new massive reels are engineered to accommodate a 156 mm cable and offer an impressive winding capacity of over 60 tons. These features make them ideal for heavy-duty applications where durability and reliability are essential. To optimize transport and logistics, the reels are delivered in disassembled form. The final assembly will be carried out directly by the customer, with the possibility of assistance from GMP Reels’ specialized technicians if needed.

Advanced finishing and safe handling

As shown in the image, the reels are currently awaiting the degreasing process and will be finished with one layer of primer and one topcoat, achieving a total paint thickness of 80–100 μm. Additionally, supporting cradles are included in the supply to guarantee safe handling and secure storage throughout all phases. These advanced finishing processes and structural supports reflect GMP Reels' commitment to delivering robust and long-lasting equipment designed to perform under the most demanding conditions.
