CEA welders to comply with EN 1090

With effect from 1st July 2014 all on-site construction welded products are required to comply with new EN1090 standard which, in civil engineering, imposes that they must be CE marked as foreseen by CPR 305/2011 (Construction Products Regulation) and by Directive 89/106/EEC.

To provide help, in terms of cost and time, obtaining the CE mark on steel constructions type EXC 1 and EXC 2 (where EXC stands for the "Execution Class" defined by the design engineer, according to EN 1090-2), CEA has produced a collection of qualifying welding procedures: the WPQR (Welding Procedure Qualification Records) from which other welding procedure specifications, the WPS, are derived.

These have been released and certified by the competent German organization SLV, according to the type of material, the thickness, the type of joint, the welding position, the filler material, the shielding gas and the type of CEA generator used: CONVEX and DIGITECH VISION PULSE series only.
