New Kilton thread-cutting screws, the ideal solution for fastening on pre-painted holes

New Kilton thread-cutting screws, the ideal solution for fastening on pre-painted holes

Starting in March, Kilton expands its product range with new thread-cutting screws Type F, specifically designed for light metal fabrication and for fastening on pre-painted components and sheet metal.

When painting is carried out before assembly, fastening operations can become critical: poor thread start-up, high tightening torque, and unreliable electrical contact can result in inconsistent assembly quality. The new Kilton screws are designed precisely to solve these issues in a simple and reliable way.

Designed to overcome the limits of pre-painted holes

The core feature of the new range is the fluted point (Type F), engineered to break through the coating locally where needed and deliver reliable metal-to-metal contact at the hole edge.
This allows for:

• fast and accurate start-up;
• reduced tightening torque and improved process control;
• optimal metal-to-metal contact, essential for mechanical strength and, when required, electrical continuity.

The point geometry is designed to preserve the surrounding paint layer, improving the final appearance of the product and reducing the risk of corrosion over time.

Greater assembly efficiency, fewer unnecessary operations

The new Kilton thread-cutting screws are ideal for:

• pre-painted panels and sheet metal;
• light metal structures;
• housings, enclosures, and cold-formed profiles.

Thanks to their design, they eliminate preliminary operations such as manual paint removal or hole preparation, helping make the assembly process faster, more repeatable, and more efficient.
