MECAVIT OPEN HOUSE
MECAVIT ITALY celebrates 30 years of activity and invests in new plants and facilities. Mecavit Srl from Bologna, Italy, celebrated thirty years of business with an 'open house'. During the day visitors, including many Italian and foreign clients and the families of employees have had the opportunity to visit the new plant for the production of fasteners in carbon steel and stainless steel, well known on the international markets under the symbol VMC, which means "Viti Me Ca." (Screws Me Ca), which was in fact the original name of Mecavit, founded in 1980 by Bruno Carafa and Otello Medici. Both craftsmen with long experience in the field, they decided to join forces and expertise to create a new company. Certified quality of the product and the ability to compete has led Mecavit to establish itself as a leading manufacturer of standard and special screws, that are manufactured according to the needs of the customers. Mecavit, for example, produces special screws for some of the most important European Automotive industries and major appliance manufacturers: customers who require high precision and mechanical properties that Mecavit can guarantee, even with the use of sophisticated equipment for the monitoring of the pieces. The new plant, located in a new building of nearly 8,000 square meters, features a section dedicated to heat treatment, for which the company has invested three million Euro. "Our main markets are the 27 European countries, the United States, Russia - explains Giuseppe Verdoliva, Sales Manager of Mecavit - and our annual turnover stands at 7 million euros. During our three decades of work we have gone through and overcome some deep crisis in the international market and faced the terrible competition from Asian manufacturers who actually penalized all the screws manifacturers in Europe. These experiences have given us the incentive to diversify production, producing high value-added products and focusing on "special", which now accounts for more than 50% of sales. We are pleased to count among our customers many important industries and a number of European distributors, that recognize our reliability and quality of product and service, of which we are certainly proud."
