The voice of businessmen: Piloni Srl. From the voice of businessmen, opinions, analysis, assessments: this is the column "The voice of businessmen", which continues today with an interview to Giuseppe Piloni, from Piloni Srl, the company from Lecco specialized in the production of small metal parts made by cold forming of metal wires. 2010 is now behind us. How was it for your company? We can say that we have almost recovered the crisis: the turnover is now closer to 2008 levels than to those of 2009. The difference is, we are all in the grip of a great uncertainty. Customers order the bare minimum, and it is difficult to make long-term estimates. What do you expect from 2011? Certainly an increase in raw material costs and a greater shortage of supply. It has become almost inevitable. Is there any product on which you focus in particular? We produce almost exclusively special pieces designed by the customer. Rivets, pins, etc., in various metals. Rather than on a single product, we focus on our service. We are getting ISO 9001 certified, and we're working hard on improving all aspects of production and trade: the rationalization of internal departments, on-time delivery, the renewal of the workforce... In this last issue we face with a serious chronic problem. Which one? To find qualified personnel. It is an endemic problem, which unfortunately is an encumbrance in our attempt to realize a serious generational workforce change. To which extent does your production go abroad? We export 35-40% of our product, with the aim to increase this share significantly. Germany, France and Eastern Europe countries are the most receptive countries for us. As we're talking about internationalization, which means of promotion do you use? Coming to fairs, this year we will participate in Fastener Fair Stuttgart, together with the Metal Fastener group. We are six different companies, specializing in the production of small metal parts, standard or designed. Our synergy was born to be able to trade with more force on the international market. As a group we won a contract for internationalization, which will allow us to create a common website, and to develop various business initiatives. With regard to investments on the web, we just redid Piloni's institutional website. And then there's your portal, of course.
