Blutref, steel wire ropes, cables, and flexible mechanical transmission solutions

Blutref, steel wire ropes, cables, and flexible mechanical transmission solutions

For over 70 years, Blutref has been designing and manufacturing steel and stainless steel wire ropes, cables, and sheaths for remote flexible mechanical control systems used in a wide range of industrial applications. Originally established as a supplier to the automotive industry, the company has progressively expanded its product portfolio to include strands, cables, cords, wire ropes, and flexible steel products manufactured from bright, galvanized, and stainless steel.

Supported by a RINA-certified Quality Management System compliant with ISO 9001 and backed by extensive engineering expertise, Blutref manufactures both standard products and custom-engineered solutions for industries including automotive, marine, agriculture, architecture, photovoltaic systems, fall protection systems, railway, earthmoving and lifting equipment, livestock farming, physiotherapy equipment, and fitness machines. The product range includes wire ropes and cables from 0.5 to 40 mm in diameter, as well as Bowden and Push-Pull sheaths, flexible shafts, extruded plastic tubing, and numerous technical components developed for specific applications.

Galvanized and stainless steel wire ropes and sheaths

Steel wire ropes represent the core of the company's manufacturing operations. The product range includes stranded wire ropes, spiral strand ropes, steel strands, and preformed ropes available in galvanized steel, zinc-aluminum coated steel, bright steel, and stainless steel.

Configurations are available with fiber cores, steel cores, or independent wire rope cores (IWRC). Products can be supplied either uncoated or with plastic coatings such as PVC, PA, PE, PP, or PU. The range also includes calibrated wire ropes for marble cutting, wire ropes specifically developed for the automotive industry and window regulator systems, as well as straightened and compacted wire ropes designed for stamping and die casting applications.

Steel cables for mechanical control systems

The Blutref product range includes swaged steel cables manufactured in galvanized steel and stainless steel for motorcycle and automotive applications, Push-Pull cables with rigid cores, helical cables, Dyform compacted cables for the marine industry, and stainless steel cables used in lifeline systems and anchoring applications.

The goal is to provide outstanding mechanical strength, precise control, and long service life, even under demanding operating conditions.

Rotation-resistant wire ropes for lifting applications

For industrial lifting applications, Blutref manufactures rotation-resistant wire ropes specifically designed to minimize load rotation during lifting operations.

The product range includes parallel-closed ropes, compacted ropes, Dyform compacted ropes, Hercules-type ropes, Seale, Filler, and Warrington constructions, as well as eight-strand and nine-strand designs and wire ropes with plastic inserts. These products are widely used on cranes, derricks, hoists, elevators, freight elevators, and a broad range of material handling equipment.

Technical sheaths for mechanical transmission

A significant portion of the company's production is dedicated to sheaths for flexible mechanical control systems.

The product range includes Bowden sheaths with HDPE, POM, and self-lubricating inner liners, heavy-duty Push-Pull sheaths, reinforced sheaths with hardened steel wires, and Long Lay sheaths specifically designed for intensive duty cycles.

The portfolio also includes laminated steel sheaths, trapezoidal and round sheaths, available either uncoated or plastic-coated, developed to ensure protection, smooth operation, and long-term reliability.

Flexible shafts and extruded tubing

The production range is completed by flexible shafts designed for rotary motion transmission in measuring instruments and industrial equipment, together with two-wire flexible sheaths.

Blutref also manufactures extruded tubing in HDPE, POM, PA, PTFE, PU, and other engineering plastics, including multilayer co-extruded tubing, used as functional or protective components in mechanical control and power transmission systems.

Value-added processing and customization

In addition to manufacturing wire ropes and cables, Blutref provides a comprehensive range of value-added processing services, supplying components ready for assembly.

These services include cut-to-length processing of wire ropes, cables, flexible shafts, sheaths, and tubing, zinc die casting of end fittings, in-house design and manufacturing of dedicated tooling, and production of plastic components such as cable guides, rings, and technical rubber grommets.
