Officina Bonacina on its strategic acquisition and new automation investments

Officina Bonacina has recently taken a strategic step in expanding its production capacity by acquiring the company GBV S.a.s. and installing two new automatic transfer machines at its production site. This move marks a significant boost in the company’s ability to handle large-scale production and complex part machining.
Two transfer machines for enhanced production continuity
The new Riello models—AZ.14.134.6.0 No. 21181 and AZ.12.103.6.0 No. 21253—are rotary table transfer machines with six operating stations, designed to process a variety of metallic materials such as carbon steels, quenched and tempered steels, stainless steels, and aluminum.
This type of technology is engineered to optimize cycle times by combining multiple operations (turning, milling, tapping, drilling, and scraping) into a single production line. Each operating unit works simultaneously while single parts are transferred from one station to the next without interruption, ensuring precision and continuous flow.
The operating units in detail
The first Riello machine is equipped with 4 operating units:
- 2 drilling units
- 1 recessing unit
- 1 tapping unit
The second Riello machine includes 5 operating units:
- 4 drilling units
- 1 tapping unit
A third configuration provides:
- 3 drilling units
- 1 scraping unit
- 1 tapping unit
This combination enables machining on both forged and non-forged parts, with production volumes ranging from 50,000 to 5,000,000 pieces. The minimum monthly batch required is 30,000 pieces.
