Condoroil's response to passivation of hot galvanized steel coils
In an increasingly global market, materials are subject to extensive travels and weather condition which are favorable to the onset of corrosion. Important variations in temperatures promote the formation of condensation, while marine atmospheres and storage in contaminated areas provide the condition of strong aggression towards the zinc that protects hot galvanized coils. For this reason Condoroil was committed to research a passivating product which could raise the bar of performances of most popular trivalent based passivating products which are available on the market.
The research had a positive result with the product CROMCOAT CR 643.
CROMCOAT CR 643 has a particular inorganic component package, among which chromium and manganese salts, and organic components, among them anticorrosion additive and organosilanes, that act in an extremely efficient way forming an impenetrable barrier to moisture.
The results are: excellent resistance performances to the corrosion with the possibility to guarantee, with a chrome deposit of 25 g/m2, less than 5% of white rust after:
- 700 h of humidity cycle according to EN ISO standard 6270/2;
- 700 h stack test
- 96 h salt spray fog
Condoroil's staff is confident that the use of this product could allow the coil manufacturers, and not only, to reduce the claims on the material due to corrosion.
