DESCALINOX P 25: Condoroil files the patent application
Pickling of stainless steel series Aisi 400 and Aisi 303, with some exceptions for ferritic, is usually done in two following steps.
The most used pretreatment steps are:
- Immersion in oxidizing melted salts (usually a mix of caustic soda and sodium nitrate) followed by a water quenching with formation of hexavalent chromium
- Immersion in reducing melted salts (usually a mix of sodium borohydride and caustic soda) followed by a water quenching
- Sot blasting
- Immersion in a solution of potassium permanganate at 90°C followed by immersion in a tank containing sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide
- Immersion in a solution of a mix of sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and corrosion inhibitor
