Oxide particles in the pickling baths? The new flocculant by Condoroil is the solution
In steel pickling, decantation systems are often used to eliminate oxides particles floating on the working solution.
This operation, that sometimes is easily used to keep clean the bath, becomes essential as pretreatment in acid retardation and/or diffusion dialysis membrane regeneration plants with resins.
Although considering low specific delivery values inside the decantation unit, the presence of very little dispersed
particles require the use of additional filters. In order to reduce the consumption of such filters, Condoroil developed Flocculating Agent CONDORFLOC AC 71-05 which, dosed into the flow feeding the decantation unit, allows to agglomerate the micro particles into heavy flakes that quickly decant.
This avoids an overcharge of the filtering systems and therefore to limit their use to a simple safety barrier.
To operate in extreme conditions in the pickling baths, the developed flocculating agent has a high resistance to pH values near to zero, to high temperatures and to the typical oxidizing conditions of the pickling baths for stainless steel.
The product is also used in the pickling of carbon steel before crystallizators of ferrous sulphate or oxidizers of ferrous chloride to guarantee the production of a cleaner by products free of oxides.
Condoroil is in the position to supply traditional decantation units for acids or lamella pack technology in case the
solution volume and/or the overall dimensions have to be reduced.
