Leadership handover at Rosendahl Nextrom: Altmayr succeeds Jäkel as Cable & Wire Director

Leadership handover at Rosendahl Nextrom: Altmayr succeeds Jäkel as Cable & Wire Director

There's a changing of the guard at Rosendahl Nextrom's Cable & Wire Business Unit. Josef Altmayr has stepped into the role previously held by Johann Jäkel, opening a new chapter for the division.

Altmayr: a return to where it all began

Altmayr's appointment brings the business unit's leadership back to someone who built his entire career within it. He joined the company in 1990 as a process engineer in the cable and wire field, and over more than three decades moved through a series of senior roles, including Head of R&D, Technical Director, and Group COO, before most recently overseeing Supply Chain Management for the entire group. Along the way, he was directly involved in shaping some of the company's signature technologies, among them foaming technology and the ROEX extruder line.

Reflecting on his return to the division, Altmayr described it as something of a homecoming, expressing his intention to rebuild close ties with customers and the team while continuing the work already set in motion by his predecessor to keep the company at the forefront of the technology landscape.

For Altmayr, real innovation comes from close collaboration with customers and a genuine understanding of their needs, rather than simply tracking industry trends. With that in mind, he points to digitalization, artificial intelligence, and automation as the key drivers shaping the unit's strategy going forward, both in internal operations and in the equipment supplied to customers, with the goal of pushing quality, performance, and value even further.

A smooth transition

Jäkel led the business unit from 2019 onward, a period marked by solid growth despite a difficult market environment, with the company strengthening its position in growth areas such as e-mobility, energy, and data center applications, and expanding internationally through a new Mexican office and the acquisition of Estonia's Windak Group. He will remain with Rosendahl Nextrom for one more year, supporting the integration of Windak into the group.
