Windak’s OW26T-UW26T rewind line has just arrived at the customer's facility

Today’s article is all about Windak Group, one of the most renowned players in the wire & cable industry. At the end of September, the brand new high-tech OW26T-UW26T rewind line left the corporate Process & Training Center in North Carolina and arrived at the facility of a major American fiber optic cable manufacturer.

The laying unit installed on the take-up is equipped with adjustable guide rollers for a multitude of cable widths and is driven by a Motion Control Drive and an AC motor. The operator can set the laying pitch and select the turning points via the main panel — both can be further fine-tuned through remote control during winding operations. The reels are loaded and unloaded to the side of the line and can be adjusted vertically (up to 16”) for a straighter cable feeding. The flagship feature of the entire line is the integrated “SafeWind” unit, which allows easier and safer laying operations thanks to specific proximity sensors.

Characteristics and technical specifications:
- both the pay-off and take-up can run in torque mode (for larger cables) or in speed mode (for smaller and more sensitive cables);
- the line can be reversed with synchronized unlaying on the take-up;
- full remote control for manual functions;
- recipe control for optional parameters;
- maximum line speed in "torque" mode: 100 mpm;
- maximum line speed in "speed" mode: 200 mpm;
- tension range "Torque" mode: 7.5 - 20 Kg;
- tension range "Speed" mode: 12 - 40 Kg;
- maximum reel size: 2.59 m;
- minimum reel size: 760 mm;
- maximum weight: 7250 Kg.

As is always the case with Windak machinery, the line has demonstrated impeccable performance and improved usability.
