IO-Link, a technological leap that simplifies the electrical management of sheet metal bending rolls

1960 Seravesi has recently introduced a major innovation to its sheet metal bending rolls: IO-Link technology. For several months, all machines produced have been equipped with this advanced communication system between the PLC and field devices, such as sensors and transducers.
Fewer cables, greater reliability and control
Thanks to the adoption of IO-Link, there is a drastic reduction in the number of electrical cables and junction boxes, both on the machine and inside it. This results in a significant simplification of the electrical system and the near-total elimination of wiring-related issues, especially over the long term.
All installed IO-Link sensors and transducers – such as linear position transducers and pressure sensors – communicate in real time with the PLC, allowing for advanced diagnostics and remote parameterization. The outcome is more efficient management and an immediate response to any operational anomalies.
Simplified maintenance
Another key advantage is its ease of maintenance. IO-Link cables are pre-assembled with standard 4- or 5-pin connectors, which are readily available on the market. In case of damage from external causes, the operator can replace them quickly and independently, without the need for specific skills or complex technical interventions.
1960 Seravesi is internationally recognized for its range of 3- and 4-roll bending machines, section benders, hydraulic presses, and edging machines for sheet metal forming, available in both mechanical and hydraulic versions, suitable for processing thin and medium thicknesses. The company also produces custom-designed special rolls for specific requirements, entirely engineered and manufactured in Italy, using high-quality certified components.
