Weld without scratching: CEMSA’S case study in Brazil

Weld without scratching: CEMSA’S case study in Brazil

CEMSA International has reinforced its position as a trusted technology partner in automatic welding through a successful collaboration with a major Brazilian manufacturer of door locks and hardware systems.

A challenging requirement: automatic welding without removing the protective film

The project focused on the introduction of a lock with a stainless steel faceplate under one strict condition: the scratch-resistant protective film on the visible side had to remain intact throughout the entire production process. This posed a significant technical challenge, requiring a complete rethinking of the welding approach.

CEMSA addressed the issue by developing a high-productivity automatic system capable of welding one piece every five seconds in a continuous cycle. The solution relies on “indirect” projection welding, the ideal method to prevent damage to sensitive surfaces.

Integrated quality control and parameter traceability

The system is built around a six-station rotary table, with each phase monitored in real time. Every component is linked to its welding parameters, enabling automatic statistical process control. A dedicated station verifies mechanical strength, while any process drifts are detected and corrected immediately. Non-compliant parts are automatically separated to safeguard overall quality.
