Briquetting chips with Violi: cutting-edge solutions at the 24th Overmach Open House

From October 22 to 25, 2025, the 24th edition of the Open House organized by Overmach will take place at its headquarters in Parma. The event, dedicated to the latest innovations in machine tools, will offer visitors the chance to attend live demonstrations and meet with industry experts to discuss topics such as automation, digitalization, and industrial sustainability.

Violi Macchine will be present to showcase its solutions for metal chip compaction, with a special focus on the new VMS23 model.

Chip briquetting: why it matters

Metal chip briquetting is a key process for increasing efficiency and sustainability in mechanical machining. 

A briquetting machine, with the current technology, is easy to use and brings numerous benefits to companies in the metalworking industry. These machines reduce and optimize the space required for chip storage, as well as costs and times of internal handling and external transportation.

Furthermore, briquettes destined for foundries have a higher commercial value than loose chips, because during melting process they significantly improve material yield. Metal chips may contain a considerable amount of oil and emulsions, which are often very expensive. During the briquetting process, it is possible to recover the liquid contained within the chips.

The VM S23 briquetting machines are designed for companies with high productivity standards. This model, on display at the 24th Overmach Open House, features a dosing loading hopper that directs the chips into the pre-compaction chamber, allowing the production of briquettes with uniform dimensions.
