DEM Group, innovation and precision in rolling solutions

DEM Group, innovation and precision in rolling solutions

In a time when innovation and precision are key to staying competitive in the metalworking industry, DEM Group shares some insights on the company’s vision, the most innovative materials they are working with, and their most significant recent technical achievements.

Based in Italy, DEM Group designs and manufactures complete rolling and roll forming lines for ferrous and non-ferrous wires, as well as flat wires and bars. With a strong international presence and a constant focus on research and development, the company has become a benchmark for high-performance solutions serving strategic sectors such as energy, automotive, and electromechanical industries.

What is the current production capacity? And what are your main markets?

Today, DEM Group operates globally, with the Americas being the main export market. The current production capacity enables us to meet customer demands worldwide, thanks to continuous investments in R&D. This allows offering state-of-the-art machinery, optimized processes all in all controlled by the most advanced digitalized packages.

What are the most advanced materials DEM machines are processing today?

Besides high carbon, stainless and alloy steel, the most innovative materials are copper and aluminum, primarily used for power generation, transmission, and distribution. Product-wise advanced solutions are stretched ribbed wire, which offers excellent mechanical properties and high performance for particularly demanding applications in concrete reinforcing, flux cored wire, which offers unbeatable economic and technological advantages in welding, and, finally, induction tempered wire for the fabrication of coiled springs used in the automotive industry.

What has been the most significant technical achievement DEM has obtained in the past year?

In the second half of 2024, DEM secured a major order from a European aluminum wire manufacturer for a complete cold rolling line. This line will be dedicated to producing flat wire in coils later on transformed as conductors in electric machines and stands out for its exceptional performance: it will ensure precise traverse winding, extremely tight tolerances, and a flawless surface finish. The mill will also offer high operational flexibility, being able to process both aluminum and copper wires to meet evolving market demands. Production is scheduled to start in the second half of 2025 and represents a major technical milestone for DEM Group’s technological advancement and international growth.
