DEM Wire Rolling Technology delivers new profile rolling line to India
DEM Wire Rolling Technology has just successfully delivered an innovative Cold Rolling Line to a giant manufacturer of stainless steel wire in India. The line draws AISI 316L wire (maximum inlet Ø 7.5 mm) to spools of a maximum weight of 2,000 kg. The finished wire shape is triangular for the production of screens for oil, water and liquid filtration systems. Beyond this specific application, the DEM line can also be set to produce different final shapes, thanks to a quick roll changing system. The line configuration is the following: - Horizontal pay-off Driven by motor, equipped with steel sheet safety protections. - Pre-straightening module 10 idle rolls to help wire feeding. - 3 Profile Rolling Stands Three driven horizontal capstans draw the wire through undriven shaping rolls. - Horizontal and Vertical straightening unit The unit is composed of two panels consisting of seven rolls each, all of which can be manually adjusted by screws. - Laser measurement For closed-loop control and dimensional adjustment of the final material. The laser reads the X and Y dimensions and adjusts the position of the shaping rolls accordingly. - Spooler Automatic adjustment of the rotating speed of the coiler shaft with the line speed. The spooler also moves sideways for perfect layer winding. All production parameters can be displayed, selected, stored, retrieved and modified through the colour screen HMI. DEM developed the whole automation system and the electrical plant through its own specialists. The line grants excellent tolerance (0.005 mm) at the maximum rolling speed of 8 m/sec (480 m/min), with superior repeatability.
