Precision rolling, INVIMEC solutions for the goldsmithing industry

INVIMEC QR48 and QR65 are finishing rolling mills developed for precision applications in precious metal processing. Integrated into rolling lines for the jewelry industry, these machines are designed to control final thickness with high accuracy and repeatability on strips and flat bars, ensuring consistent material performance in downstream operations.

INVIMEC QR48, compactness and precision

The QR48 rolling mill is designed for cold rolling thin strips and flat bars, with an input thickness range up to 1.0 mm and an output thickness down to 0.05 mm, supporting strip widths up to 30 mm.

Among its key technical features:

  • quick work cylinders change in just 15 minutes without special tools;
  • 4-high rolling mills (QUARTO) configuration, increasing stability and deformation consistency;
  • vertical adjustment options: brushless motors with high-precision encoders;
  • customizable coilers for coil processing, adaptable to different production requirements.

The compact and robust design ensures repeatability and reliability even in short production runs.

QR65, capacity and control in the upper range

The QR65 operates on the same design principles as the QR48, but with a higher input capacity (thicknesses up to 1.5 mm) and strip widths up to 50 mm.

The main features are:

  • quick cylinders change as in the smaller model;
  • higher power (approximately 7.5 kW), suitable for tougher or higher-throughput materials;
  • support for the same in-line measurement options for thickness and width, as well as chrome-plated or lapped rolls for high-quality surface finishes.

Both models are equipped with an intuitive HMI display and allow both manual and automatic operation, with integrated operator safety and ease of inspection.

Why these features matter in the current production context

In recent years, the price of gold has reached record levels, steadily exceeding USD 4,000 per troy ounce in 2025 and hovering around USD 5,100 per ounce in early 2026. This has placed greater weight on every gram being processed, making thickness control a matter of real economic efficiency.

In applications such as small-format investment bars or chains produced from flat strips, even a microscopic deviation can result in unplanned weight adjustments, increased production scrap and rework, loss of precious material that cannot be recovered, and ultimately non-compliance with market requirements.

For example, when working with strips in the 0.10–0.15 mm range, even minimal thickness variations proportionally increase gold consumption, with economic impacts amplified by the current value of the raw material.

To find out how INVIMEC experts can further improve the efficiency of your rolling operations on metallic materials, take advantage of the wire & Tube Düsseldorf trade fair. The team looks forward to welcoming you in Hall 11, Booth G30 from April 13 to 17, to discuss new projects together. Continue following the online stand updates for full details on the upcoming event.
