A milestone in wire machinery: delivery of the 500th No Twist Coiler

Shipping a machine is always a significant moment. Delivering the 500th No Twist Coiler (NTC), however, represents an important milestone in the history of Lämneå Bruk, the Swedish manufacturer specialized in wire drawing and wire handling machinery.
Before leaving the factory, the machine underwent its final mechanical adjustment. While this is a standard and essential procedure, on this occasion it also became an opportunity to reflect on what 500 delivered machines represent: decades of accumulated experience and technical knowledge that must be actively transferred within the organization.
Knowledge transfer at the machine
During the adjustment, team leaders from the mechanical department, experienced fitters, and sales engineer Stefan Petersson worked side by side. Through many years of collaboration with wire producers and direct involvement in No Twist Coiler installations worldwide, Stefan Petersson has developed deep industry and application-specific expertise. His contribution goes beyond technical drawings, focusing on machine behavior in real production environments and on how fine adjustments influence performance and reliability.
For the team involved, this was not only about preparing one machine for shipment. It was also about ensuring that the know-how behind the No Twist Coiler continues to be shared. Younger colleagues had the opportunity to learn directly at the machine, turning individual experience into structured, shared competence.
No twist coiler technology and model range
Introduced in 1992, the No Twist Coiler was developed to increase efficiency in wire drawing and uncoiling by ensuring twist-free wire handling. Over time, the technology has evolved into a complete range of solutions, including the No Twist Coiler 750 for solid, flux-cored, and spring wire, the No Twist Coiler 1200 designed for increased wire drawing speeds and higher outputs, and the No Twist Coiler 1700 with advanced wire package concepts and non-stop payout options. The portfolio is completed by multi-wire take-up solutions, designed for in-line integration with heat treatment and galvanizing lines. Across all models, the NTC enables higher production speeds and optimal wire utilization without requiring modifications to existing line layouts, confirming the maturity and proven performance of the technology in a wide range of wire production applications.
