Argostar, the cold stretching and respooling line for steel wire ribbed coils

The Argostar line by Promostar is a high-performance system for producing cold-stretched ribbed steel wire coils. It is engineered for applications in civil and industrial construction, including precast elements, foundations, lattice girders, stirrups, and welded wire mesh.
Integrated cold stretching and respooling process
Argostar combines two processes: the cold stretching of rebar in coils with wire respooling, enabling the production of compact coils with the desired weight. When enhanced mechanical properties are not required, Argostar doubles as a high-efficiency solution for producing compact coils.
Cold-stretched coils of consistent quality and fully compatible
Designed for performance and reliability, Argostar produces cold stretched coils with consistent mechanical properties that comply with reinforcing wire standards. The output is fully compatible with all welded mesh lines and cutting and bending systems.
The heart of the line: double bullblock and Argostar main body
At the heart of the line is the Argostar body and its double bullblock, equipped with two vertical-axis capstans that guide the wire on an “S” path. This layout enhances stretching efficiency and increases mechanical deformation. V-shape type capstans come standard, with optional smooth drums for cold-rolled production. The line handles wire diameters from Ø6 to Ø20 mm.
Orthogonal panel stretching system
Two 90°-oriented drawing panels inside the machine body ensure uniform elongation and allow precise modulation of the wire’s final properties. Alternatively, rolling cassettes can replace the stretching panels to process smooth wire rod into cold-rolled wire.
Integrated systems and easy maintenance
All electrical, hydraulic, and lubrication systems are fully integrated into the machine structure for optimized layout and simplified ordinary and extraordinary maintenance.
Flexible feeding and automated spooling
Depending on wire diameter, Argostar can be fed by a vertical payoff tower with dual tilting fingers or a horizontal payoff beam. Optional features include a mechanical descaler and in-line lubrication system.
On the output side, the wire is coiled by a horizontal or vertical spooler. For maximum automation, a fully automatic vertical spooler handles all phases independently—wire insertion, cutting, spool changeover, sample collection, strapping, labeling, and weighing. This configuration supports the production of compact coils from 2 to 8 tons.
