Aqueous solution polymer quench: a green technology alternative for steel cord and bead wire processing

As sometimes the processed wire diameter range is rather tight, the use of aqueous solution patenting as alternative to the Ecoquench (fluidized bed patenting) may be considered. Having chosen a specific polymer compatible with the most stringent health safety requirements of REACH - the FIB AQUEOUS SOLUTION PATENTING technology - allows the patenting of wires under health safe conditions. The quenching operation sets the structure and consequently the final tensile of the wire. Within this framework, the quenching process must be fast and with an homogeneous cooling under control across the entire wire field. Using health-friendly polymer combined with the FIB polymer solution quenching unit, the technology allows a full control of the tensile strength while the handling of the sand is in this case avoided.
