Bottaro publishes its first Sustainability Report

Bottaro has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, the company’s first ESG reporting document: a solid set of data and analyses that makes processes, impacts and improvement priorities easier to understand, with an approach focused on measurement and continuity over time.
The report was prepared in accordance with the VSME (EFRAG) standard, designed for non-listed SMEs, with the aim of providing structured, transparent and comparable information on environmental, social and governance performance.
At the core of the document is a materiality analysis process developed with the direct involvement of management, aimed at identifying the most significant impacts related to the company’s activities.
The key material topics identified include:
- energy and emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2)
- materials and waste management
- water management
- people, health and safety (training and inclusion)
- ethics and governance
On the environmental side, the approach is technical and based on monitoring and continuous process improvement: in the reporting period, Bottaro records 2,138.1 tCO₂eq (Scope 1+2) and 6,755.4 MWh of energy consumed, with a share already covered by renewable sources. The improvement roadmap focuses on increasing renewables, optimizing energy consumption and upgrading production infrastructure.
In the water area, indirect cooling systems and collection tanks help keep groundwater withdrawal within authorized limits; regarding materials, the model enhances scrap recovery, reintroduced into the production cycles of partner steel mills and reused as wire rod with a high recycled content.
For the social and governance dimensions, the report highlights a stable organizational structure (a strong prevalence of permanent contracts and full coverage by collective bargaining agreements), incident monitoring and structured safety procedures. In terms of governance, formal tools are in place—such as the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct, the 231 Organizational, Management and Control Model, and whistleblowing systems—supporting transparency and accountability.
Looking ahead, planned initiatives include the installation of a 999 kWp photovoltaic system, together with the definition of emissions reduction targets, stronger data collection and analysis, and the consolidation of management systems and certifications.
