Metallurgica Locatelli: new investments in wire pickling and drawing
After unveiling its plans at Fastener Fair Italy 2026, Metallurgica Locatelli has upgraded its production facilities with two updates: a change to the surface treatment of wire and wire rod, and the installation of five new wire drawing machines capable of handling diameters up to 27 mm. These investments are designed to deliver cleaner, brighter products while expanding the company's range of drawn wire sizes.
Surface treatment: cleaner, brighter wire and wire rod
Since September, Metallurgica Locatelli has replaced the borax bath in its pickling line with a soap bath. This change delivers better performance on both wire and wire rod, with cleaner, brighter products.
Five new wire drawing machines for diameters up to 27 mm
Metallurgica Locatelli has installed five new wire drawing machines capable of processing wire diameters up to 27 mm. Until now, the company's range of bright wire and wire for cold heading and extrusion was limited to diameters up to 14 mm. The new machines make it possible to handle larger diameters, broadening the company's product range for the metalworking industry.
