2025 updates: aligning capacity with market demand

Starting in May 2025, Trafilerie Assi has introduced a strategic expansion of its range of the most in-demand free-cutting steels.

In 36SMnPb14 — a widely used grade for turned parts, small shafts, fasteners, and components requiring excellent machinability — Ø65 will be added to the standard range and kept permanently in stock. A highly requested diameter that is often difficult to source with short lead times.

The expansion is even more significant for 11SMn30: diameter availability will extend up to Ø80, including Ø65, Ø70, and Ø75. For many manufacturers, this means fewer suppliers, reduced downtime, and greater operational efficiency. For Trafilerie Assi, it means long-term customer partnerships.

Hexagonal bars without gaps

Anyone machining hexagonal bars is familiar with the issue: certain sizes are consistently hard to source. Trafilerie Assi has deliberately focused on these “critical” dimensions, such as 16 and 28 mm across flats, building a continuous and reliable range.
