CNC threaded bars for structural and mechanical applications

Threaded bars are an integral part of Trafilerie di Malavedo’s product range, complementing its wire drawing operations with a specialized in-house CNC threading service for custom orders and contract machining.

The company, specialized in metal wire processing, manages every critical stage of production internally—from wire drawing through carbide dies to precision cutting, straightening, and final threading. This end-to-end integration ensures constant control over diameters, mechanical properties, and surface quality.

CNC threading from Ø 5 to Ø 20 mm

Threading operations are conducted in a dedicated department utilizing Industry 4.0-integrated CNC lathes, supported by precision measuring instruments and advanced quality control systems. The production range covers diameters from Ø 5 mm to Ø 20 mm, intended for applications in structural steelwork, mechanical assemblies, anchoring systems, and industrial plant installations.

The seamless continuity between wire drawing and threading is a key differentiator: materials are processed without external intermediate steps, reducing lead times while ensuring consistency between mechanical properties and thread geometry.

Dimensional inspection and certifications

Quality control is integrated into every stage of the manufacturing process. Upon request, the company provides mill certificates covering chemical analysis and tensile strength data, as well as 3.1 inspection certificates in accordance with EN 10204.

The in-house laboratory performs inspections on raw materials and finished products, ensuring traceability and compliance with agreed technical specifications.

Contract machining / third-party machining

In addition to full-scale production starting from in-house drawn wire, the department also operates for third-party machining services, offering precision threading on customer-supplied bars. This flexibility allows the company to respond to different requirements in terms of batch sizes and dimensional specifications.
