San Paolo: coil-to-coil peeling up to 42 mm
There is more and more the need to have safe products without defects, that's why back in 1996 Trafilerie San Paolo has applied to the coils an already known technology: PEELING.
Peeling is a surface removal by chip removal, in this specific case after the step of peeling the wire is taped and rewound.
Peeling (as opposed to drawing) removes the cliques, the decarburization, the inclusions under the skin and out of roundness.
On cold headed finished items, after full selection, you could find either 1% of defected pieces if produced from unpeeled wire rod, but 0.02% of bad parts if produced from peeled wire coils.
