The phosphate base layer forms a rough, porous surface that ensures strong adhesion and initial lubrication. Over this, a polymer coating is applied as a thin, dry film, typically through dipping or spraying, followed by drying or low-temperature curing. This polymer layer offers consistent lubricity, minimizes dust generation compared to traditional soap coatings, and provides temporary corrosion resistance, facilitating safer storage and cleaner handling.

This combination allows for smoother wire feeding, reduced tool wear, and increased uptime in multi-station cold heading and thread rolling operations—making it particularly suitable for automated, large-scale screw manufacturing environments.
