Influence of process parameters on wire rod deformability

From 10:00 to 10:25 AM, Mirko Tenca will present a study on “inverse aging” in as-rolled wire rod. The analysis highlights how storage time can enhance material deformability, with a focus on the evolution of reduction of area (ROA).

The presentation will also examine the influence of hot rolling parameters and cooling conditions on deformability recovery, providing insights into the metallurgical mechanisms governing this behavior.

From billet to wire rod: effect of continuous casting conditions

From 3:30 to 3:55 PM, Federico Baldussi will discuss the impact of continuous casting parameters on final wire rod quality.

The study investigates how solidification conditions influence microstructure, including chemical segregation, grain morphology, and grain size. Particular attention is given to their effect on the mechanical properties of low-carbon steel billets and hot-rolled wire rod.

This research supports the optimization of continuous casting processes to achieve consistent, application-oriented material performance.
