The Mant® PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) dies manufactured by Redies are a cutting-edge solution for wire drawing applications. By combining the unique properties of polycrystalline diamond with industry expertise, these tools ensure high performance even in the most demanding drawing processes.

Polycrystalline diamond (PCD)

Mant® PCD inserts are produced with special attention to the selection of raw materials:

- exceptionally pure diamond powder with impurities below 70 ppm;
- very narrow grain size distribution;
- block diamond crystal structure free from marks and weak points.

The structure is bonded through a high-pressure, high-temperature sintering process using a catalyst (such as cobalt).

This structure gives the material exceptional hardness, excellent wear resistance, and outstanding dimensional stability.

- long service life, even when drawing highly hard and abrasive wires;
- excellent surface finish of the wire, thanks to precisely controlled geometry and available grain sizes;

Available grain sizes range from 1 µm to 40 µm.

The die geometry, reduction angle, entry cone, and exit zone are all carefully designed and manufactured to promote smooth wire flow and reduce internal stresses during the drawing process.

Mant® PCD inserts can be “self-supported” or come with a tungsten carbide support ring, allowing for a complete choice depending on the specific requirements of the wire material.

Insert dimensions offer maximum flexibility for any production need.

Mant® has introduced the MANT® MSD 14 insert, which bridges the significant gap between D-12 and D-15, and can be used for wire diameters from 0.2 to 2 millimeters.
